SASSA grant Increases for 2025/26

SASSA has increased payment amounts starting April 2025:

  • R370 monthly grant stays the same
  • Old age grant now R2,310 (R2,330 for 75+)
  • Child support increased to R560, top-up is R280
  • Disability grant is now R2,310
  • Foster care grant is R1,250
  • Care dependency grant is R2,310

Here are some common status responses and what they mean:

  1. Pending: Still checking your application.
  2. Declined for the Month: This month’s grant was not approved, but future payments may come.
  3. Failed: You may already get UIF, NSFAS, or other government help.
  4. Referred: Sent to another department for extra checks – usually still a good sign.
  5. Alternative Income Found: You might be earning more than the allowed limit.
  6. Application Not Selected: You didn’t choose a post office or there was a bank issue.
  7. NSFAS Registered: You’re already getting help from NSFAS, so you might not be eligible.
